Dubai: An all-party delegation of Indian Members of Parliament (MPs) concluded a two-day visit to the UAE on Friday, aimed at promoting a unified message of zero tolerance against terrorism following the recent Pahalgam terror attack and the subsequent Operation Sindoor.
The delegation expressed gratitude to the UAE for its firm stance against terrorism after meetings with ministers, senior officials, community leaders, and think tanks.
During their visit, the MPs paid respects at prominent religious sites including the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and BAPS Hindu Temple in Abu Dhabi, as well as the Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara in Dubai, reinforcing a powerful message of harmony, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence values deeply shared by both India and the UAE.
Led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Eknath Shinde, the delegation included members from various Indian political parties such as Bharatiya Janata Party’s SS Ahluwalia, Bansuri Swaraj, Atul Garg, and Manan Kumar Mishra; Biju Janata Dal’s Sasmit Patra; Indian Union Muslim League’s E.T. Mohammed Basheer; and former diplomat Sujan Chinoy.
Speaking to the media in Dubai, the delegation highlighted the importance of international unity in combating terrorism and called for enhanced global cooperation to promote peace and development.
Shinde emphasized that the UAE’s position aligns closely with India’s commitment to eradicating terrorism in all its forms, stating, “Everyone should stand and fight united against terrorism because it is not and it will not be restricted to India alone.”
He further stressed that despite ideological differences within India, all parties unite under the common cause of peace and zero tolerance toward terrorism.
The delegation conveyed that their message represents the voice of 1.4 billion Indians, while also acknowledging that the UAE’s message of peace and tolerance resonates deeply with the millions of Indians residing in the country. Indian Ambassador to the UAE, Sunjay Sudhir, welcomed the delegation warmly and highlighted the strong strategic partnership between the two nations.
He expressed appreciation for the UAE’s environment of peace, harmony, and tolerance, which benefits the large Indian expatriate community.
Sudhir also noted the UAE’s early and unequivocal condemnation of the Pahalgam terror attack and its call for global efforts to eliminate terrorism.
He added that the UAE was among the first to welcome the recent ceasefire, underscoring the close alignment between the countries.
Beyond the impressive bilateral trade, which surpassed $100 billion in the last financial year, Sudhir emphasized that India-UAE relations extend well beyond commerce and cultural ties.
The delegation’s visit is part of the Indian government’s global outreach program, which includes seven all-party delegations traveling to India’s key partner countries, including members of the United Nations Security Council, to strengthen diplomatic relations and promote shared goals of peace and security.
